a  researcher

We wear many hats as teachers. One of them is to help our learners learn better in a meaningful context and the other one is to do research as a teacher. In this blog post, we will be learning more about some problems we may have to encounter and five steps to overcome problems as a teacher and a researcher.

Some of these problems you may have to encounter:

- You can be quite busy with school and home. That’s why, you don’t have enough time to conduct research.

- You can feel confused because you don’t know much about where, when and how to start a scientific study.

- Even though you are highly motivated, school authorities may not encourage you to carry out research.

Here are five steps to help you overcome problems as a teacher and a researcher :

1. Get ready psychologically: Don’t let anyone demotivate you. Remember and remind that you are a researcher as well as a teacher because education is based on science. Decide on the fact that it’s necessary to conduct research in your subject area to contribute to your field.

2. Set time: Decide on when you can be available to start your research. You can plan everything you aim to do daily, weekly, monthly by having planners and schedules.

3. Observe & revise literature:

Observe the missing points that need enlightening in your teaching environment, topics you are interested in. You can talk to your colleagues to give you more research ideas.

- Revise literature, which means what other researchers have done before your research. You can use sites like Google Academics, ResearchGate, Academia.edu to find out more studies.

- Make a list of important points and topics.

4. Decide on your research topic: After observing points that need research in your subject area and revising literature, decide on the topic you are going to research.

5. Research article or review article: Decide if you carry out scientific research and at the end of this, you are going to have a research article or if you write a review article based on reviewing articles, studies by other researchers on the topic you aim to research.

        Then, start!

It’s crucial to keep in mind that you may not be able to balance between school and research although you are willing to carry your responsibility as a teacher and a researcher at the same time. Nonetheless, you can spare enough time by being motivated, planning what you are going to do step by step in a logical order and following these five steps to overcome problems as a teacher and a researcher
